NORTH BERKELEY/KENSINGTON HIKE, THURSDAY, JUNE 22, 2006

This hike will involve some combination of North Berkeley and exotic Kensington, and will take us in a loop from the flats to Tilden Park or Wildcat Canyon and back. Expect big houses, park paths, steep stairways, historic rocks, breathtaking views, and a cemetery with great feng shui. We'll probably go 5 miles or so.

Meet at 10:00 am at El Cerrito Plaza BART station. Look for a pink WW sign. Bring lunch, water, and sunscreen. Wear sturdy shoes. Expect to be back around 2:00 pm.

FOUR HILLS/TWIN PEAKS HIKE, SATURDAY, JUNE 24, 2006

We'll walk up into the hills surrounding the Castro, visit the Pink Triangle, and hope to see feral parrots, black-crowned sparrows, and some late wildflowers. Expect steep hills and stunning views. We'll have a brief snack break, not a long lunch break. We'll probably go about 4 1/2 to 5 miles. This walk will borrow from both the Four Hills hike and the Twin Peaks hike.

Meet at 11:30 am at the corner of Castro and Market, just outside the Muni station. Take public transportation today!—parking is very unlikely in the Castro on June 24. Look for a pink WW sign. Bring snacks, water, warm layers, and sunscreen. Wear sturdy shoes. Expect to be back around 2:00 pm. Click here for directions.
